Is it now Double-Jeopardy for the NFL or should it be “Final Jeopardy” for Roger Goodell???(Should the Comish quit?)

Many sports and even non-sports fans are speaking out and they are calling with fervor for the commissioner of the National Football League, Roger Goodell, to step down and give up his position as the top sports official, a job that pays Goodell a reportedly 40 million dollars a year….

The NFL says they had never seen the complete Ray Rice tape until Monday and there is a law enforcement official that says he sent the full video to the NFL offices back in April of this year…There has been total denial from the league and from the league leader Roger Goodell and now the tale of the tape says the tape was in the league offices back in April….

Is is time for the Commissioner to step down and walk away from his position of power??? What if anything can be done to make this issue right? What will be the end result when all of this is sorted out and can the commissioner be trusted, as he take this league(the NFL) down the road from here, for now???

from www.espn.com:

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancée to an NFL executive five months ago, while league executives have insisted they didn’t see the violent images until this week.

The official played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: “You’re right. It’s terrible.”

The NFL has repeatedly said it asked for but could not obtain the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer — who is now his wife — at an Atlantic City casino in February.

The league says it has no record of the video and that no one in the league office had seen it until it was released by TMZ on Monday. Asked about the voicemail Wednesday, NFL officials repeated their assertion that no league official had seen the video before Monday.

  1. Time to get rid of Goodell.

He does not know how to tell the truth and he is killing the NFL’s credibility.

  2. Something needs to be done.

But here’s what I don’t get: everyone knew Rice hit and knocked her out before TMZ posted the video. Why is it more heinous and objectionable now? Assault is worse if it’s caught on film?

In my opinion, the suspension should have been modified to the new 6-game standard. The indefinite suspension was to appease the masses that need a video to realize what happened. That was an overreaction on the NFL’s part.

Don’t get me wrong, Ray Rice deserves punishment. But if it’s true the NFL had the video that long, then Goodell deserves some for how he’s handled this entire situation.

  3. Let’s try to remember that Goodell is not the guy who knocked his wife out cold here. He did his job which is keep the league and his star players out of the negative limelight. It was too much for Rice when the video was widely published and he had to do something.

The bad guy got the punishment so let it go people. Why do we always have to go blaming an innocent person? Reminds me of how the lacrosse coach had to be fired when false accusations were brought against his players. Someone besides the guilty must always be punished because the guilty are never at fault. So tired of this foolishness.

  4. The way I’ve seen it Roger Goodell only has to answer to the NFL owners and if the owners decide they want him gone, then he would be gone…

It would up to the owners and you might get some input from the NFL Players Union over this….

  5. Kinda funny: the day the tape was supposedly delivered to the NFL offices, Goodell was off on a golf course (Augusta).

Kinda like another powerful leader we all know.

  6. Big difference,Goodell helps make others rich. The other leader takes our money and redistribute and we all end uo broke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
