WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Former Wake Forest quarterback and assistant coach Tom Elrod will join Stan Cotten and Dave Goren in calling Demon Deacon football games on the Wake Forest IMG Radio Network this fall.

Elrod, a 1997 graduate of Wake Forest who lettered in 1996, had served as an assistant coach with the Deacons from 2003 through 2013. He coached fullbacks and tight ends in his first five seasons with the Deacons before becoming quarterbacks coach and co-passing game coordinator. During his tenure, he coached Riley Skinner who threw for more yards than any other Wake Forest quarterback.

“I am thrilled to join the IMG/WME team for the upcoming Wake Forest football season,” said Elrod. “I spent 18 great years at Wake Forest as a coach or player and as I have transitioned out of college coaching, this is an opportunity to bring some insight and observations based off my history with the program. August signals that football season is almost here and I look forward to kicking things off with Stan and Dave.”

Cotten will be calling Wake Forest football for the 19th year. A two-time NSSA North Carolina “Sportscaster of the Year” honoree, Cotten is calling college football for a 35th consecutive season.

“Tommy is a great addition to our team,” said Cotten. “We’ve done a couple of things in preparation for the season and he has been terrific. Tommy’s a natural and I think he will excel as a broadcaster.”

Jeff Salisbury, general manager of the Wake Forest IMG Sports Marketing Group, said “We’re excited to have Tommy join our team. As both a former Wake Forest player and coach, he brings a unique perspective into the booth for our gameday coverage, and I know Demon Deacon fans will enjoy what he will add to the broadcasts.”

Goren returns to the sidelines after a year in the booth alongside Cotten as the analyst. A veteran sportscaster and current executive director of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, Goren was the 2008 North Carolina “Sportscaster of the Year.”
