College Men’s Cross Country News – Guilford Ranked Ninth in Preseason ODAC Poll

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s men’s cross country team was picked ninth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ polls, released Thursday. Bridgewater College earned the top spot in the men’s 11-team poll, 13 points ahead of Washington and Lee University.
Third-year head coach Danny Cash’s men’s team returns three letterwinners from last year’s team, which placed fifth of 11 teams in the 2013 ODAC Championships. The Quakers lost four seniors from that team, including 2013 ODAC Runner of the Year Andres Goncarovs ’14 and Chad Norton ‘14, Guilford’s first cross country All-American in school history. Sophomore Nick Reynolds, consistently the Quakers’ fourth-fastest runner last year, tops the list of veterans, which is complimented by six newcomers. Reynolds ran his best eight-kilometer time (29:33.97) in the 2013 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships.
The Quakers open the season Friday (8/29) at the ODAC Preview Meet on Guilford’s Meadows Course, site of the 2014 ODAC Championships Nov. 1.
