Greensboro College Pride Picked Eighth In USA South Coaches Football Poll at Media Day

MARYVILLE, TN — The USA South Athletic Conference held their annual football media day on the campus of Maryville College on Monday afternoon. At the event the USA South Conference released their pre-season coaches’ poll, as well as comments from each of the conference institutions head football coaches about the upcoming season.

Greensboro College head coach Bill Young was the second coach to address the media, as the Pride was selected to finish eighth in the 2014 season.

“I am really excited to work with this senior class, and I am really looking forward to working with them one final year” Young said. “It’s going to be an exciting season in Greensboro, and I am ready to get it going.”

Defending USA South Co-Regular Season Champions Maryville College was selected as the pre-season favorites, with Christopher Newport University in their final season as a conference member came in a close second behind the Scots.

The Pride football team opens their 2014 campaign on Saturday, September 6th when they travel across town to take on the Quakers of Guilford College in the annual Gate City Soup Bowl. The game will take place at the Armfield Athletic Center at 7:00 pm. Admission into the contest will be free with the donation of two canned goods to the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
