HPU Men’s Soccer Game Against UNC-Asheville Picked To Be Streamed On NSCAA.TV

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The High Point University men’s soccer home game against UNC Asheville on Sept. 27 has been selected to be streamed on NSCAATV.com as part of the NSCAA College Soccer Special presented by Continental Tire.

“It is very exciting that our program has a chance to be featured in the NSCAA College Soccer Special,” head coach Dustin Fonder said. “The game should help bring national exposure to our team and High Point University. The atmosphere the game will provide will also be a great asset in a league game as we look to pick up points.”

This is the second time that High Point has been selected to be featured as an NSCAA Game of the Week. HPU was previously featured by the NSCAA in 2011 when the Panthers’ home game against VCU was broadcast nationally on the Fox Soccer Channel. High Point won the nationally televised game over the Rams by a score of 3-2.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our men’s soccer program and HPU athletics to make an impression on a national scale,” Athletic Director Dan Hauser said. “It is an honor to be included among a prestigious group of high quality soccer programs. We are very excited to show the continued growth of High Point University and to showcase the brand new Athletic Performance Center. ”

The NSCAA College Soccer Special will feature up to 20 NCAA Division I college soccer games and numerous NCAA Division II, Division III, and NAIA games throughout the 2014 season. This year’s preliminary schedule includes 15 games and features five Top 25 men’s teams from last year’s final NSCAA/Continental Tire rankings. The schedule also includes four Top 25 women’s teams, including NCAA College Cup finalist Florida State.

In early August, NSCAA, NSCAATV, and Continental Tire will show six different NSCAA College Soccer Preview Shows with preseason rankings for Division I men, Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women, NJCAA men and women and NAIA men and women from the Continental Tire studios located in Chapel Hill, N.C. During the season, NSCAATV will do a weekly NSCAA/Continental Tire College Soccer Review Show from the road.

High Point finished the 2013 season with an 8-8-3 overall record and was second in the Big South with a 6-2-1 conference mark. The Panthers return 10 starters from last seasons’ squad, including leading scorer and NSCAA All-Region selection Mamadee Nyepon, and All-Conference selections Sonny Mukungu, Kody Palmer and Austin Yearwood.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America debuted NSCAATV.com in July 2013, thrusting the Association into the evolving world of television and digital technology. The online channel started with original programming, live streams, and other content promoting the beautiful game.
