  1. Good news here today on the Guilford County football front:

North Myrtle Beach High will name Freedom High’s (NC) Blair Hardin its new head football coach, pending approval of the Horry County School Board meeting on Monday, Grand Strand Sports Report has learned.

Blair spent one season at Freedom in Morganton, NC, after a successful stint at Porter Ridge, where he went 50-18 in five seasons.

He was one of three finalists for the job, which opened after Perry Woolbright stepped down last month following four seasons with the Chiefs.

Hardin became the top choice of the Chiefs after a speedy search for Woolbright’s replacement.

He led Porter Ridge to back-to-back appearances in the Class 4A state championship game in 2011 and ’12 before crossing the state border to North Carolina.
