Fleet Feet Sports – Off ‘N Running Celebrates The American Heart Association National Walking Day (April 2, 2014)

Greensboro, NC – On April 2nd, in celebration of National Walking Day, Fleet Feet Sports/Off ‘N Running Sports is partnering with the American Heart Association to encourage people across the Triad to get fit and start walking for a healthier lifestyle. Fleet Feet invites people to come out for a walk from the store at 6:00 pm on April 2nd, National Walking Day, at their Lawndale Store location.

On National Walking Day, a day where hundreds of thousands across the nation take steps to improve their health, Americans are encouraged to spend at least 30 minutes of their day briskly walking. Physical activity is critical to being healthy, but less than 50 percent of adults get enough daily exercise.

Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week to see the health benefits of physical activity such as lower blood pressure, improved bone health, weight maintenance after weight loss, better sleep, and more energy.

“Knowing that heart disease is the #1 killer for both men and women in the United States, we are excited to be a part of a campaign that encourages a healthy lifestyle and gets people moving. Having a companion or group to walk or run with makes living a healthy lifestyle fun and motivating,” say John Dewey, local owner of Fleet Feet Sports.

Fleet Feet Sports of Greensboro and High Point offers walking and running shoes and apparel. The store promotes healthy living through free group runs and walks, and offers a variety of weekly group programs mentored by the Fleet Feet staff.
