Greensboro College Women’s Soccer Drops USA South Quarterfinal Game to Piedmont 1-0

DEMOREST, GA – The Pride women’s soccer team fell to Piedmont college 1-0 in a USA South quarterfinal game on Saturday. Greensboro suffered the defeat, despite outshooting their opponets nine to eight.

Piedmont found the back of the net just four minuites into the game for the early 1-0 lead. Greensboro put pressure on their oppenets firing six shots but none were able to beat the keeper.

In the second half, The Lions held strong keeping The Pride off the board. The Pride had three shots but came up short in the 1-0 defeat.

Elizabeth Torres led the way with three shots, two of which were on frame. Melanie Raton and Lauren Greeson both had two shots, with one on target. The Pride held a 5-4 advantage on corners. Jessica Thatcher made six saves in goal.

Greensboro concludes their 2013 season with an 8-8-1 overall record, and 7-4-1 in the USA South.
