Women’s Soccer: Emory & Henry 3, Guilford 1

EMORY, Va. – Guilford College put a scare into Emory & Henry Sunday afternoon, but the Wasps pulled out a Senior Day victory with a 3-1 win in women’s soccer Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Quakers (1-16, 1-9 ODAC) got a goal from Kelli Uresti to cut the deficit to one midway through the second half. It was the team-leading fifth goal of the season for Uresti and she was set up by a pass from Leticia Benitez.

But Emory & Henry (4-11-1, 4-5-1 ODAC) iced the game at the 71-minute mark when Ashlie Caldwell scored her second goal of the game. It made a winner of Sarah Jerome, who stopped one shot for the Wasps.

Abby Gove turned back 15 shots for the Quakers.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday afternoon, as it hosts ODAC rival Roanoke in a 4:00 pm contest.
