GC Men’s Basketball Blows Past Johnson (TN) 117-57

The Greensboro College men’s basketball team (13-8 overall) rolled to a 117-57 road victory over Johnson (TN) on Friday night. The win is the fifth in a row and seventh in the past eight games.

The Pride put up the first seven points of the game and extended the margin to double figures at 14-3 at the 15:43. Greensboro would clear the bench early and eventually push the lead to its largest first half spread at 59-29 following a buzzer beating half court three by A.J. Mussington heading into the break.

In the first half alone, The Pride bench outscored Johnson 45-4. Greensboro scored 21 points off of turnovers with 15 coming on fast break opportunities.

The Pride continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half, cruising to the final tally of 117-57.

Mussington led Greensboro with a double-double, 19 points and 11 assists. Seven players hit double digits in scoring, including Jacob Thomas with 17, Devonta Davis with 16, Brian Thomas and Lawrence Butts with 13 each, Abdias Sauveur with 12, Donald Anderson with 11 and David Leaman with ten.

As a team, The Pride shot 57.3% from the field and went 17-39 from three. Greensboro held a 49-27 advantage on the boards and forced 22 turnovers while committing only nine.

The Pride will hit the road again on Saturday at Maryville. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
