College Men’s Lacrosse News – Guilford Picked Seventh in ODAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

FOREST, Va. — Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse coaches tabbed Guilford College seventh in the league’s annual preseason poll released Friday. The Quakers received 33 points in the 10-team ranking.

First and second place differed by seven points with Lynchburg College taking first with 78 points and Washington and Lee University second with 71. Roanoke College sits one point behind in third place. The league welcomes Shenandoah University to the ODAC this season and Bridgewater College is fielding its first men’s lacrosse team in school history.

Guilford head coach Tom Carmean begins his third season with six starters among 21 returning letter winners. Last year, the Quakers had a 6-9 overall record and went 1-6 in the ODAC. Midfielder Chase Clausen returns for his junior season after receiving third-team all-conference honors last season. He was second on the team with 35 points on 22 goals and 13 assists. Sophomore Nick Huckins is back after leading the Quakers with 65 ground balls last season. Nick Mann is in his senior year with the Quakers and scored 15 goals and four assists in 2012. Sophomore Juquan Tellis was the second on the team in ground balls (50) a year ago.

The Quakers has a scrimmage against Catawba College on Feb. 9. The official start of the season is Feb. 17 against Colorado College at Guilford’s Armfield Athletic Center.
