Greensboro College Baseball Places Three on CoSIDA District First Team

Greensboro College’s Christopher “Kit” Mock, Torrey Poholsky and Daniel Poindexter were named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA District Baseball Academic First Team.

With the three senior honorees, The Pride had the most award winners on the team. As first team recipients, the trio are now eligible for national academic team consideration. The players helped the 2008 Pride team to a 26-15 record, the second most victories in GC history.

Kit MockKit Mock

A native of Clarks Summit, Pa., Mock has a 4.0 grade point average. He majors in biology and has a double minor in chemistry and mathematics. Before being injured near the end of the regular season, Mock had a 7-4 record and a 2.79 earned run average. He holds the career record for most starts (41) and innings pitched (267.1). He was selected to the USA South second team the past two years and made the CoSIDA District second team as a junior.

Torrey PoholskyTorrey Poholsky

Poholsky was named the USA South relief pitcher of the year and also earned conference tournament team honors. Hailing from Accident, MD, he boasts a 3.75 GPA. He majors in biology and minors in mathematics and chemistry. Poholsky posted a 5-1 record with a an ERA of 1.82. He holds the career mark for saves (15) and is third all-time in career ERA (.3.23)

Dan PoindexterDan Poindexter

Poindexter, from Clemmons, NC, led The Pride with a .433 batting average, which tied for the best in program history. An English major, he carries a 3.86 grade point average. Poindexter was a USA South first team selection and his career .398 average ties him for tops in GC baseball history.
