The Triad Power battles in Burlington…

Triad Power 12u Takes Second Place in Burlington

The Triad Power 12 (Blue) participated in the NSA Fast Pitch Jam in Burlington, NC. The NSA sponsored tournament fielded fifteen of the top 12u teams from the Triad area. The tournament was held at the beautiful Springwood Park facility near Elon and at City Park in Burlington. This was the Power’s fourth tournament in row and finally the weather cooperated.

The Power started the tournament with two pool games and then went in to double elimination bracket play. The first pool game was against TFS from Raleigh, we won 7-2. The next pool game was against the Weekend Warriors from Alamance County. We grabbed a 5-0 lead and held on to it. Our first bracket game was against the Chatham Katz from Chatham County. Solid hitting earned us the 11-1 victory. Next we had to go up against the Carolina Attitude out of Clemons, NC. We dropped this one 5-2.

We came back on Sunday with a goal of reaching the championship, it was tough having to come through the losers bracket. The first game was against the Weekend Warriors, again and we took them 9-1. Next was the Diamond Girls (Blue), our defense held and we won 6-2. The Carolina Attitude was the only thing left blocking us from the championship. The Power would not be denied, we get the victory 6-5.

The Championship was against the Southern Alamance Sluggers, a very good team from Alamance County. The Power played hard but came up short and lost 6-3. We had great pitching by Ashton Dobbins, Bergan Goodard and Morgan Coleman all weekend. Very consistent hitting by Samantha Stilling, Kara Shutt and Ashley Carter kept us scoring runs. Our defense was led by Brianna Webb, Hayley Rumley and Haleigh Epperson. A special thanks to Rachel Durham for filling in for us.
