North Carolina is #1 at 853 million dollars and Duke is #2 at 809 million, when you look at ‘Schools whose alumni have earned the most money in the NBA starting with who entered the league in 1985′……from www.wsj.com:
North Carolina’s top earners are Rasheed Wallace and Vince Carter, while Duke has seen Grant Hill and Elton Brand bring home the top dollars….

Coming in at #3 on the list is Arizona, Georgetown holds down the #4 spot and Michigan rounds out the top five…..

I didn’t catch it, but it sounds like a lot of viewers did and today they(NBC/FCC) are looking to put ‘the finger’ on the part of last night’s halftime show that is stirring up all of the controversy today…..Big halftime show with lots of music and Madonna was giving it all she could, but the fans again, got more than they bargained for……

Football, Basketball, Hockey games, Wrestling matches, MMA fights…..Too many of these these events are being given away over the internet illegally and we don’t understand it all, but the Wall Street Journal has done a very good job of breaking down the problem of illegal internet streaming….from www.wsj.com:

New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady says:

“Last year I was rehabbing my foot in Costa Rica, watching the game on an illegal Super Bowl website. And now I’m actually playing in the game. So, it’s pretty cool,” Mr. Brady said.

Web operator Yonjo Quiroa, of Comstock Park, Mich., was charged Wednesday with copyright infringement. Prosecutors said he distributed football, basketball and hockey games and wrestling matches.

Mr. Quiroa appeared in federal court in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Wednesday. He was held without bail while his immigration status was under review. Larry Phelan, his lawyer, declined to comment.

Authorities said the prosecution was part of a continuing federal effort to target counterfeiting and piracy on the Internet.

Remembering Angelo Dundee and Charlie Spoonhour

Angelo Dundee, the man who was the manager and trainer for Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, died this week….Dundee was 90 and Spoonhour, who was the basketball coach at St. Louis, also passed this week and Charlie was 72….

Dundee died down in Tampa, Florida and Spoonhour died in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Dundee was known as a motivator of the fighters he trained and was considered the ‘best cornerman’ of all time…..

Spoonhour loved to have a good time and he was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and he was best known for coaching at St. Louis University, where he led the the Billikens to the NCAA tournament…Spoonhour also was the head basketball coach at Southwest Missouri State and at UNLV, among other places…..

Spoonhour was at St. Louis University when Debbie Yow(Gibsonville, N.C.) became one of the first female athletic directors in the U.S., when she took over the Billikens’ athletic department…..

Good hard working, well-liked leaders that will be remembered for a long time to come….Anyone that has followed boxing at all in the past 40-50 years, will never forget the name Angelo ‘Angee’ Dundee…..

Big men playing baseball

Lots of names, of lots of big men playing baseball flying around today, with C.C. Sabathia(6’7/290), Prince Fielder(5’11/280) and even Babe Ruth(6’2/215) being tossed around and how about Ryan Minor, when he was with the Baltimore Orioles at 6’7/250, when he replaced Cal Ripken Jr. on September 20, 1998 and he was playing in Greensboro for the Delmarva Shorebirds, in the South Atlantic League Championship in August of 1997…..One of his teammates with the Orioles and the Shorebirds was first baseman Calvin Pickering who stood 6’5 and weighed 295 pounds…..

Minor on the corner at third at 6’7/250 and Pickering on the corner at first checking in at 6’5/295…..D.J. Reader(Grimsley High School) can play both of those spots at 3b and 1b, at least he can in high school, so he ought to fit right in with those guys….D.J. should get a shot at first base in college, if all goes well…

Another big man that played third base and he was no shrimp and that was Bob Horner, of the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals….Bob started large and got extra-large before it was all over…He was at 240 pounds in one of his prime frames, but later they said Bob might have bulged up to 270…..

Big men have been around for a long time….Got any more prime examples for us???
