ELON, N.C. — The Elon men’s basketball team will take a three-game winning streak on the road when it travels to Tennessee for a date with the Chattanooga Mocs on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m. in McKenzie Arena. The Phoenix has won four of five games since beating the Mocs in late January, while Chattanooga is in the midst of a seven-game winless stretch. The game can be seen on ESPN3.com. Darren Goldwater will offer the play-by-play with Dean Keener providing color commentary.

Site: Chattanooga, Tenn.
Arena: McKenzie Arena
Series: Chattanooga leads, 10-9
Streak: Elon has won one
Radio: WPCM 920 AM — Taylor Durham and Dick Stewart will call the action
Twittter: @elonscores

FREE THROWS
• The Phoenix has won five of its last six contests and is in first place in the North Division. A win against UTC would match Elon’s win total for all of last season (14).
• Jack Isenbarger was named SoCon Player of the Week after a career week that saw him average 23.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 5.6 apg over three Phoenix victories.
• Elon is 3-2 on the road against league foes this year. The Phoenix has never won four SoCon games on the road since joining the league in 2003-04.
• Elon’s eight SoCon victories are the most during the Matt Matheny era and most since a nine-win campaign in 2007-08.
• Elon is 10-1 when scoring 70 or more points and 3-9 when scoring 69 or less points.
• Sophomore guard Jack Isenbarger has been a starter the last seven games and Elon owns a 5-2 mark. He is shooting 49.5 percent from the field and averaging 21.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 3.8 apg. Isenbarger has hit 26 three-pointers over the last seven games.
• Elon has held opponents to under 40 percent shooting in nine of 13 wins this year — but opponents have shot 40 percent or better in all but one of the 10 losses.
• Lucas Troutman moved into Elon’s all-time career blocks list with two swats against South Carolina. He is averaging 1.4 bpg, second in the league. The sophomore now has 80 blocks and is in seventh place all-time at Elon.
• The Phoenix has shot better than its opponent in 11 of its 13 wins this year.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon ended a seven-game losing streak to Appalachian State with a dominating 82-59 victory over the Mountaineers on Monday night.
• Four Phoenix scored in double figures led by a season-high 21 from Sebastian Koch.
• Elon dominated all aspects of the game, never trailing and holding a double figure lead for nearly 30 minutes of the contest.
• Elon outrebounded ASU, 38-28, marking only the sixth time this year the Phoenix has held the edge on the glass. The Phoenix had 13 offensive boards and scored 18 second chance points.
• Turnovers were also a piece of the puzzle as the Phoenix turned 17 ASU miscues into 26 points.

ELON VS. CHATTANOOGA
• Elon will be looking for the series sweep against the Mocs having defeated UTC in Alumni Gym, 88-87, on January 21. Last time the Phoenix defeated Chattanooga twice in the same season was in Matheny’s first season (2009-10).
• Since beating the Mocs in January, Elon has won four of its next five games. Chattanooga has dropped seven straight.
• Four scored in double figures in Elon’s one-point win over UTC led by Lucas Troutman’s 21.

University. Zena has had an outstanding career as a 4 year starting point guard for
the Cowgirls. She help lead the Cowgirls to 4A State Title last season along with 2
conference championships and 2 conference tournament championships during her time.
The Cowgirls are on their way to another undefeated conference season and look for
another conference tournament title next week. Zena will sign in the late period.

Below you will see the awards and recognition she has gathered over the years:

Freshmen Year:

Sophomore Year:
Sheetz Classic All-Tournament Team, Scored over 1,500 career points

Coach’s Comments:

Zena is a game changer on offense and defense. She can hit the 3, drive to the
basket or pull up. She can create her own shot easily and is a constant threat
offensively. She has improved her defense and her rebounding. Zena not only has
great stats, but she gets hustle plays, forces turn overs, sprints the floor on
defense and offense. She is by far the best athlete/player I have coached thus far
in my coaching career. Off the floor she continues to work hard and improving in the
classroom. I see great things in Zena’s future education and basketball career. I
wish her all the best!

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women’s basketball team played its most complete game Tuesday night but a 10-0 run by Bridgewater College midway through the second half spelled doom for the WildCats in a 77-66 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) loss to the Eagles.

Randolph (3-18/0-16 ODAC) had its second-best shooting evening of the season, posting a 40.4 percent clip (23-57). The WildCats also shot 50 percent in the second half, which was their best shooting half of the season. The 66 points also tied for its highest point output of the year.

The lead was back and forth in the first stanza, as the two teams traded advantages five times before the WildCats went ahead 14-13 with 12:54 left on a three-pointer from Lauren French (Blairs, VA/Chatham). That three was part of a 9-0 spurt that saw Randolph take a 20-13 lead with 10:42 remaining.

With Randolph up by six at 26-20, the Eagles (14-7/10-6 ODAC) went on a 7-0 run that ended with BC taking a one-point lead after a free throw from Jenny Logan. After Randolph tied the game back up at 27, the visitors ran into the locker rooms with an 8-0 stretch, capped by a Kelsey Taylor jumper with 16 seconds in the first half.

After the break, Randolph refused to go away, clawing back from a nine-point deficit to tie the game at 43 with 14:14 to play on a three from sophomore Courtney Bouchard (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson). Two free throws by Bouchard put the WildCats up by two at 45-43, but BC scored the next six points to go up by four.

A Sam Sublett (Bedford, VA /Staunton River) traditional three-point play pulled Randolph to within one and the lead stayed within three for the next two minutes of play. With the score 55-52 in favor of Bridgewater, the visitors would rattle off 10 straight points including a three-pointer by Holly Morgan to cap the run.

The hosts got the BC lead back down to eight, but could get no closer. Randolph put four scorers in double-figures for the first time all season, as Bri Lowry (Herndon, VA/Herndon) had a team-high of 14 points. Lowry supplemented her point total with five boards and five assists. French ended the game with 11 points and six rebounds, nailing three shots from behind the arc.

First-year Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, VA/Henrico) had 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals while fellow newcomer Bonnie Bishop (Fairfax, VA/Trinity Christian) was three-of-five from the floor and four-of-four from the line in posting 10 points and five steals. Randolph was 15-of-20 from the line, its best free throw shooting performance of the season.

Bridgewater put five players in double figures, highlighted by the game-high 16 points from Morgan. The first-year also added nine points, six assists and two steals. Taylor had 15 points, while Jenny Logan had 13 points, six boards and four helpers.

Shannan Thorne had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Kelsie Floyd made all five of her field goals and both of her free throws for 12 points in 10 minutes of action. BC was 17-of-28 from the line and won the rebounding battle, 41-35.

The WildCats will now head to Salem, VA Friday evening for a road tussle with Roanoke College in the C. Homer Bast Center at 7 p.m.
