Game Report on Northwest Guilford-High Point Central Boys Basketball:NWG boys battle after trailing nearly the entire game and pull off narrow victory over Bison(Hampton double-double sparks Vikes and Smith draws charges that make a difference)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 57, HIGH POINT CENTRAL 53
GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford and High Point Central battled in the semifinal game of the Metro 4-A conference tournament. The Bison started out hot from the tap with a 9-0 run to take control of the game. Northwest was able to fight back and cut the lead to 13-9 in the middle of the frame. High Point Central was able to keep the lead into the half although it was only by a slim 29-28 margin. The 3rd quarter proved to be much of the same, as the Vikings could never get the lead and the Bison held them at bay and extended their lead to 44-42 going into the 4th quarter. Northwest finally got over the hump and took the lead during the middle of the 4th quarter and they held on for the victory by the final margin of 57-53. Northwest was able to accumulated 15 assists on 21 made field goals and made all of their free throws down the stretch. The Vikings took four HUGE charges during the game that helped change the tide. Northwest will face the winner of the Page/Grimsley {that will be played tomorrow night} in the championship game on Friday night.
–Christian Hampton led Northwest with a double-double of 14 points & 12 rebounds to go along 8 assists. Dean Reiber contributed 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocks while Tommy Smith added 9 points and took two huge charges. Tristan Perry contributed 7 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals for the Vikings. Northwest got a huge lift off the bench from Noah Allred as he put in 7 points in crucial situations.
–D. Deing had 21 points while C. Daniel finished with 10 points for High Point Central.
