*****On a sidebar, what about Jaylen Alston, from Eastern Guilford High School???*****

We have the 2018 McDonald’s High All-American Basketball Game Nominees listed below and locally we have a nice collection of talent that has been recognized/assembled with Andy Pack, from the boys team at Northern Guilford High School, then there’s John Newman III and Will Dillard from the boys team at Greensboro Day School, you have Aaron Wiggins and Jaylen Hoard, from the boys team at Wesleyan Christian Academy, plus there’s CJ Cappuccio and Ryan Moon, from Bishop McGuinness and that gives us seven local men, with a chance to win, their way on to the McDonald’s All-American team final roster….On our girls side, we have two young ladies that have been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team for 2018, and that would be Elissa Cunane, from Northern Guilford High School and Shaniya Jones, from Wesleyan Christian Academy, in High Point….

Congrats and good luck to all of our local kids that are trying to make it to McDonald’s and get a chance to play in that high school All-American basketball game….

  1. And yet again Jaylen Alston from Eastern Guilford gets overlooked. The kid is good and can play with any of these guys.

  2. Yes, he should at least be among the nominees…Guess he will just have to win the State 3-A Title and earn Player of the Year honors for North Carolina and that might prove his point, but why he did not get recognized, I do not know…

You would think he would have to be on this list of nominees….

  3. Totally agree with drob1211. Alston is not only a very good player, he’s a great kid. He’s a bit of a tweener at the next level, but IMO he will have a very nice career at Gardner-Webb.

  4. Please keep in mind that McDonald’s All-American nominees come from your high school coach. You are not nominated by a committee, your AD, AAU coach, parent or anyone else. If this players coach did not nominate him, then he could not have been nominated. I will tell you that a lot of coaches may not be aware of the process or may not find out until the deadline has passed. I don’t know this Alston player but if he has had the career or several special seasons that it appears he has, then it is unfortunate he was not nominated.
