GC Men’s Lacrosse Blasts Piedmont 25-5

The Pride men’s lacrosse team (4-8 overall) rolled past Piedmont (5-8) on Saturday for a 25-5 road win on Saturday.

Greensboro took a commanding 10-2 lead after the first period and went into the break on top 16-3. The Pride extended the margin to 21-5 after three and finished the game out with four goals in the fourth.

Greensboro dominated the shot count 50-26, won 24 of the 34 faceoffs, converted 11 of 13 clears, and picked up 39 groundballs, compared to 27 for the Lions.

Eleven Pride players scored goals, with Thomas Brooks, Scott Showalter, Charles Stringfellow, Ryan McNamara, Nick Sargraves and Jaeger Carlyle each scoring three goals apiece. Brodie Ceperich and Justin Pearson added two apiece.

Greensboro forced 30 total turnovers with Wyatt Clay recording a team high three. Clay also picked up a team leading six ground balls.

Mitchell Kanowicz earned the win in one half in goal. C.J. Meinhardt and Matt Dittemore each played one quarter apiece to finish the game out.

The Pride will be back on the road on Sunday, April 7 at Frostburg State. The game will begin at 11 a.m.
