Elon’s Women¹s Tennis Earns First ITA Ranking in Program History
ELON, N.C. – The Elon women’s tennis team entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 75 ranking for the first time in school history, the association announced on Tuesday, March 5. The Phoenix broke in at No. 59 in the overall rankings of nearly 400 NCAA Division I schools in the United States.
Dating back to a 6-1 win over Richmond, Elon (10-1) has reeled off 10 consecutive dual-match victories, the longest since the program has entered the Division I ranks. The Phoenix won its most recent match, 6-1, versus Longwood on Friday, March 1.
The maroon and gold will open Southern Conference play on Saturday, March 9, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center against Samford at noon. A day later, the Phoenix hosts Chattanooga at 1 p.m.
