Game Report: Evelyn Mack (Charlotte) 85 New Garden Friends 79 Varsity Boys Basketball
The Bears of New Garden Friends gave highly regarded Evely Mack of Charlotte all they could handle before falling in the final frame on the Bears home court. New Garden was down by two points with twenty seconds remaning and had possession, but lost the ball on an out of bounds call that went against them. Out of time outs the Bears were forced to foul and Evelyn Mack’s Ameer Jackson converted on the one and one for a four point lead with 11 seconds left. A New Garden miss and an Evelyn Mack lay-up at the buzzer provided the final margin.
The Bears brought a balanced scoring attack with Kanayo Obi-Rapu getting 16, Josh Level also had 16, followed by Cameron Williams with 15, Josh Wilkerson with 12 and Noah Poulos with 9. Juan Urena with 5 , Mason Wyrick 4 and Kingsley Nzekwe with 2 completed the scoring for the Bears.
Evelyn Mack was led by Ameer Jackson with 28 and Marcus Johnson with 26. The two led the sceond half charge with some big three pointers and a strong transition game.
New Garden will be back in action Monday night when they visit Vandalia Christian Academy.
