Smith Golden Eagles ready to announce new football coach soon/News on Northeast Guilford
Ben L. Smith will be announcing the name of their new head football coach real soon and the word on the street has it that it will be one of our area’s top high school football offensive coordinators…Smith AD Rod McCollough will have that official news coming our way soon, but the word down at the 10-yard line says that top offensive coordinator will ready to take over soon and we wish this young man the best on his new assignment and feel the Golden Eagles will be pleased…
Doug Robertson to Eastern Guilford, Smith just about ready to name, no news yet at Northeast Guilford and I talked to a coach from out that way last night, and still no definite on the future for next season at Northern Guilford, but we all know soon and we can make it official when the schools give us the final say-so….
On the NEG Rams:Donovan Jackson. Played for Norfolk State…. Coached at Rocky Mount, High Point Andrews, North Forsyth, and others….
Jackson is the HOT name on the burner at Northeast Guilford to be their next head football coach….

ANDY, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OVER AT NEHS. ONE OF THE MOST CONSISTENT/STABLE PROGRAMS IN THE STATE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A COACH NOW. WE ARE ENTERING FEBRUARY. SMITH AND EASTERN, ONE OF THE LESS STABLE PROGRAMS IN THE PAST, HAVE COACHES IN PLACE. I AM ASHAMED OF THIS. I “LOVED” THAT SCHOOL. WHERE IS JOHN PRIMM AND CHUCK BENTON WHEN YOU NEED THEM?????????
The word is they have narrowed the candidates/choices down up at Northeast Gullford….It is not easy when you have to replace a good like Tommy Pursley and one of our schools is going to be looking for an offensive coordinator……
Rumor has it that the Dudley Panthers will lose a few coaches to some cross town schools.
Starting to feel pretty certain that Dudley Panther offensive coordinator Antonio Kirkpatrick will be the new head football coach at Ben L. Smith High School….

Talked to Coach Jackson on Wednesday night and he said he was in the running and had applied and it was probably down to the final three…

He knows the line well…Bery well connected among the football coaching profession, having contacts with quite a few college and high school coaches…Was sitting with the North Forsyth coaching crew during the NEG-SWG game on WEDS….Knows a lot of coaches…
Got his undergraduate degree from Norfolk State and his Masters Degree from N.C. A&T….
If those Dudley coaches are coming, I hope they are bringing some winning ways…Tired of seeing Smith do poorly in sports. Would love to see comeback of this cross-town rivalry worthy of all the hype.
