GBC Prepstars at World Wood Bat Championship

BC PREPSTARS 18U – got off to a great start at the 18 u World Wood Bat Championship in East Cobb, GA by defeating the Louisiana Knights 11-4. Brock Hudgens (UNCC Commit) got the win on the mound going six innings. 2012 Grad Nick Monroe from
Eastern Guilford finished the 7th to preserve the win.
GBC trailed going to the fifth when Casey Jones (Elon Commit) drew a one out walk
and Cal Sutphin (Liberty commit) homered to left center to tie it at three.
Louisiana scored a run in the bottom of the 5th to go up 4-3. GBC then erupted to
score 4 runs in both the 6th and 7th to take control of the game.
For the game Sawyer Highfill (Grimsley) had three hits, Ben Schmucker (NW Guilford)
had three hits including two doubles, Sutphin was 3-4 with 6 rbi’s. Casey Jones,
Joe Turkson (Campbell Commit), and Jonthan Bethea all had hits. GBC takes on the
South Florida Bandits on Wednesday at 11:30 am.
