Bates and Thorpe Picked to D3Football.com Weekly Team

Greensboro College’s Jerry Bates (Richlands, NC/Richlands) and Antwan Thorpe (Oxford, NC/Webb) were selected to the D3Football.com Team of the week. This is the first time two Pride football players were picked to the prestigious national squad in the same week.
Thorpe ran for one touchdown and was on the receiving end of another, in GC’s 26-12 win at Maryville. He finished with 10 receptions for 177 yards.
Bates had four total tackles and one interception in a 26-12 win against Maryville, the Pride’s first-ever win at MC. Bates totaled two solo tackles and two assisted takedowns in the win. He returned his second quarter interception 55 yards for what would eventually become the game-winning touchdown.
The Pride hosts Methodist on Saturday at 7 p.m.
