Born to die: Helms gone, Morgan in at High Point Central

Posted By on July 30, 2009

Sports are very similar to life. You live to die, that is the end result; and in sports you coach or play the game as long as you can and then it is over.

You never know how long it will last. You are a product or a victim or your own circumstances.

Coach Ken Helms, who was great with that High Point Central Black Watch Defense in football and he made winners out of the Bison on the baseball field, Coach Helms is GONE.

He’s not dead, but with sports they are much akin to life. You are Born to Die and you are here until you are gone and Coach Helms is GONE.

Helms and his family have moved to Raleigh to be with a sick relative and at High Point Central they now have a Baseball Man.

You lose Ken Helms and in comes Ken Morgan from Southwest Guilford. Morgan was on the Cowboys’ staff with Coach Reid Holmes for four years and he brings a pretty solid resume to Central.

Morgan coached at SWG, Southwest Randolph, and with the Asheboro Post 45 Legion baseball team that went to the State Championship last summer. Yesterday was Morgan’s first day on the job at Central and the neighbors said Captain Morgan was out working on the Bison baseball field all day long.

Sports are a lot like life, you are Born to Die, Helms is GONE and Morgan has moved in at High Point Central.

congratulations to a great coach, former teammate, and most of all friend.

Ken Helms was a nice guy but he was a football coach, not a baseball coach. Morgan will help the Bison in what will be a tough, tough baseball conference. WIth SW, NW, Ragsdale, Glenn,E. Forsyth and Parkland in their league, HPC made the right move to bring in a real baseball coach. He’ll have his work cut out for him but I’m sure he’ll help the Bison improve on the diamond.

Morgan is a top notch person and coach. Central is very fortunate. He will be missed at SWG.

Helms will be missed. He is a great motivator that stress’ the basics of competition. He moved HPC forward, and got them to a point where theyhave not been in a LONG time. States!! to me I’d count him as a damn good baseball coach

  5. Mike says:

High Point Central baseball is on the rise. The middle school program won conference last year and will be better this year. They have alot of talent coming up to the HPC program.
