Charlotte Observer Race Writer Poole Dead at 50

Charlotte Observer NASCAR writer David Poole died on Tuesday of a heart attack. He was 50.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Poole became the Observer’s NASCAR writer in 1997. He also wrote at the racing website, ThatsRacin.com and hosted a daily radio program on Sirius Satellite Radio.

The National Motorsports Press Association named Poole Writer of the Yeasr four times.
