- Former HPU Major Leaguer to be inducted to Guilford Sports Hall
  Richard "Dick" Broadus Culler, who attended High Point University from 1932-36 and went on to play Major League Baseball for eight seasons, will be inducted to the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 21 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Culler was a three-sport star at High Point in the 1930s, playing baseball, basketball and soccer.
- Alvino plays in first pro baseball game
  Former High Point University catcher Billy Alvino made his professional debut on Monday, playing two innings for the GCL Tigers of the Gulf Coast League. Alvino was signed into the Detroit Tigers organization last week after earning All-Big South honors while hitting .400 for the Panthers in 2009.

- Women's track gets Big South Sportsmanship Award
  The High Point University women's track & field team received the Big South Team Sportsmanship Award for the 2009 spring season, HPU's third team this year to be honored with the award. The team also received the award during the 2008-09 indoor season and the men's cross country team was honored in the fall 2008 season.
- Men's soccer announces 2009 schedule
  Head coach Dustin Fonder has announced the HPU's 2009 men's soccer schedule. The Panthers will host the Big South Championship as well as eight regular-season games at Vert Stadium and will play non-conference matchups against Akron, NC State and Kentucky as part of the 2009 slate.
- Oliver announces HPU's 2009 volleyball schedule
  Head coach Jason Oliver has announced High Point University's 2009 volleyball schedule, which is highlighted by 15 home matches and the High Point University Classic Sept. 5-6. The Panthers will start off the season at the North Carolina Central Tournament Aug. 28-29 and will play in the Big South Tournament Nov. 19-21.

  Lyndsey Boswell has been named High Point University's first varsity women's lacrosse coach, announced Athletics Director Craig Keilitz on Tuesday. Boswell comes to the Panthers after three seasons as head coach at St. Andrews Presbyterian College and an All-American playing career at Pfeiffer.
- Men's Cross Country/ Track & Field Announce Six Additions for 2009-2010
  High Point University head cross country/ track and field coach Mike Esposito announces the addition of six athletes for the 2009-2010 season. Jacob Smith, Stuart Edmonds, Dakota Peachee, Jordan Robinson, Anthony Kilar and Jonathan Riley have committed to run for the Panthers next season.

The Southern Guilford girls topped Western Guilford 52-50 in girls varsity basketball last night and here’s the inside on the game from the SG Storm’s leader, Coach Whitaker:

Southern Guilford – 52

Kamille Horne, 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assist
Lindsay Inman, 10 points, 10 rebounds
Nichelle Caudle, 7 points 4 assist
Sydae Simmons, 5 points 4 steals

Freshmen Rachael Luck and Jessica Porter played solid defense for the SG Storm.
