Patriots Win Palomino East Zone:on to California for World Series…

Posted By on July 31, 2007

The Guilford Patriots edged North Allegheny 2-1 this morning to win the Palomino East Zone up near Pittsburg, PA.

Eric Presnell(Northwest Guilford) made a great defensive play in the top of the 7th inning to back up relief pitcher Michael Dimcok. Dimock(High Point Wesleyan) was the losing pitcher in game #1 of the East Zone when the Patritos fell 3-2 to North Allegheny back on Saturday.

Presnell also drove in the game-winning run, scoring Chad Hockaday out of Southwest Guilford, to give the victory to the Guilford Patriots.

Again defensively for the Patriots in the top of the 7th as described by Johnny Neese with Michael Dimock on the hill in relief:There’s one man on for Allegheny and then there’s a fly out, Dimock strikes out the next man, and faces the opposition’s top hitter. An intentional base on balls is issued and then Dimock gets the next man to ground out to Chad Hockaday for the 2-1 final for the Patriots.

Former NWG and NC A&T pitcher Nick Rogers earned the win for the Pats, Dimock made the save, Presnell got the game-winning RBI, and Hockaday scored the winning run.

*****Up next on to California for the Palomino World Series with the Guilford Patriots taking on Taiwan Thursday at 2pm Eastern and 11am Pacific. Good luck to the Patriots and remember greensborosports.com has been your 1st source for all of the local baseball action all season long.*****

This could be the year that Greensboro wins the big one. American Postal Workers won it back in 1994 and that was the best team I’ve ever seen. I will keep watching here to keep up with the Series. Can Smith make the right moves? We’ll have to wait and see……………..
